JA OURSELVES® (KINDERGARTEN)

JA Ourselves is designed to introduce Kindergartners to the concepts of personal economics, including working, earning and saving. Using a storybook format and guided, hands-on activities, students develop understanding of personal characteristics, including the concepts of self, taking responsibility, cooperating with others, making decisions and setting personal goals.

JA OUR FAMILIES® (1ST GRADE)

Aligned with the learning objectives of first grade Social Studies, JA Our Families explores how the work our family members do contributes to their well-being. With a focus on the roles people play in their local economy, students develop appreciation for the importance of work as well as the skills and entrepreneurial characteristics needed to acquire what they need and want.

JA OUR COMMUNITY® (2ND GRADE)

JA Our Community gives second-graders the opportunity to examine the concepts of citizenship, community and work readiness. By identifying the variety of jobs in a community and the skills required for each, students begin to connect the importance of business and government on the local economy. Students further explore the role of taxation and how they impact their community through responsible citizenship.

JA OUR CITY® (3RD GRADE)

In JA Our City, third-graders are introduced to the basics of financial literacy through a developed understanding of how people and businesses in cities manage their money. Exploring the different characteristics of a city, students learn the methods used to pay for goods and services, the role of financial institutions, entrepreneurs and the media in a city’s well-being.

JA OUR REGION® (4TH GRADE)

JA Our Region is an interdisciplinary program that introduces fourth-grade students to entrepreneurship and upper elementary grade social students learning objectives, including regions, resources, supply chains, and problem solving. The program provides students with a practical approach to starting a business while preparing them to be entrepreneurial in their thinking to meet the requirements of a demanding and ever-changing workforce.

JA OUR NATION® (5TH GRADE)

JA Our Nation advances workforce readiness concepts with relevant content about the need for skilled workers who can meet the demands of an increasingly competitive job market, and the importance of entrepreneurial thinking in the global marketplace. Through activities that explore career skills in STEM fields, students see how specialization and technology have impacted free enterprise and are able to recognize how these have affected the global economy.

JA MORE THAN MONEY® (3RD - 5TH GRADES)

JA More Than Money®enables students to recognize the significance of sound money management practices in making informed decisions in business and in life. Through the interactive games and role-playing scenarios in JA More Than Money®, students learn to manage a personal bank account, identify interests and skills that could lead to future careers and business opportunities, explore the process for starting and operating their own business and the importance of ethical business practices.
